President Donald Trump needs to "end the war declaration on the the media," and pitch his agenda to moderates and Independents, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci says.

In an interview Tuesday with Sirius XM's Dean Obeidallah, Scaramucci said Trump should especially make appearances on CNN and MSNBC, the Washington Examiner reported.

His last interviews with CNN and MSNBC were in 2016, the Examiner reported.

"I wish the president and his communication teams would end the war declaration on the media," Scaramucci said, the Examiner reported.

"I think you've got to go on CNN, you've got to go on MSNBC. He's a larger-than-life figure, he's a television star. He had an award-winning, highly rated television show on a major network, and he's got a tremendous force of personality — don't paint him into the corner of conservative news media."

He should not turn his back on moderates or Independents either — he will need them for re-election, Scaramucci said.

"Get him out there," he said. "He's got to explain his agenda to the moderates, he's got to explain his agenda to the Independents, and he'll win re-election resoundingly."
