Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N., predicted Sunday that not one Republican will vote “yes” to impeach President Donald Trump.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Meadows said there’s been nothing presented in the House impeachment inquiry to prove Trump’s call to Ukraine President Volodymy Zelenskiy on July 25 was a crime.

Asked if any Republican would disagree with that and vote to impeach the president, Meadows declared: “Not based on the facts that we've seen so far.”

“I think there is more pressure on the Democrats to come along and vote to exonerate the president in the House,” he said.

Meadow also insisted Trump never asked for an investigation of a political rival, but rather in the phone call “talked about investigations.”

“The appropriateness of making sure that an investigation of anyone who had wrongdoing — we know that Joe Biden was involved with Ukraine, dozens of contacts with Ukraine,” he said. “At a minimum he should have recused himself for anything related to his son.”

Instead, he charged, Democrats want to give Biden “a free pass.”

“Anyone who has had corrupt intent or inappropriate intent, whether it be Joe Biden or anybody else, I've been on oversight for four terms now. You know that I go after it. And I even go after it when it is this administration… But at the same time, just because Joe Biden happens to be running for president, to give him a free pass, I mean, that's just not appropriate.”

Meadows also defended Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, going to Ukraine, and says he doesn’t know “of any role Rudy Giuliani is playing on behalf of the president.”

“I think he's over there as a citizen. I think part of that is probably trying to clear his name,” he said, adding: “I don't know that he's over there at the president's suggestion. In fact, I would suggest that he's not.”
