Mitch McConnell on Thursday continued to assert he has "no observations" about He Who Must Not Be Named, other than to assail Steve Bannon for blowing a Senate race "in the reddest state in America."

A guest at a forum hosted by Axios, the Senate majority leader still refuses to mention Bannon's name but dismissed the relevance of the former White House chief strategist, saying he will continue to oppose candidates "who have no chance to win," like Roy Moore in Alabama.

"The kind of people you're talking about — that element — just managed to blow a Senate race in the reddest state in America," McConnell told Axios host Mike Allen.

"That is not a formula for victory. So to the extent that there are people running in primaries around the country who have no chance of winning the election, we will oppose them," McConnell said.

Bannon went all in behind Moore, even after the flood of sexual misconduct accusations that surfaced about the former Alabama state Supreme Court judge.

Bannon has waged political warfare on so-called establishment Republicans who he thinks have stymied the platform on which President Donald Trump won in 2016.

Democrat Doug Jones defeated Moore in a stunning upset Dec. 12 in a special election to fill the seat of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
