There’s two “civil wars” inside the Democratic Party, Sen. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said Sunday.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” McCarthy said the wars involve leadership in the House and the White House race.
“There are two internal civil wars going on,” he said. “Many Democrats are telling us they're upset with the Speaker [Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.] and [Rep.] Adam Schiff [D-Calif.] because how the Speaker handled this.
“She jumped too soon,” McCarthy said of Pelosi. “She was not fair in the process. And she changed the message every single week.”
“With Adam Schiff, they're very frustrated because they watched… he lied to take it from Judiciary [Committee],” McCarthy continued. “Said he has a whistleblower. He never told the Democratic members he met with the whistleblower before. It was fruit of poisonous tree from very beginning.”
According to McCarthy, “the other civil war” is against Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
“They are openly going against Bernie,” he said, adding: “They're changing rules to let other people on stage to run against Bernie. Pelosi said yesterday warning people not to vote for Bernie. They did it to him four years ago. They are trying to do it again.”
