Longtime Republican strategist Mary Matalin is changing her party registration to Libertarian, she told Bloomberg TV's "All Due Respect" on Thursday.

Though some Republicans have announced they are leaving the party over the impending nomination of Donald Trump, Matalin said she supports the New York businessman over expected Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Matalin called herself "provisional Trump" and said she is Republican in the "Jeffersonian, Madisonian sense."

"I'm not a Republican for a party or a person," she said. "The Libertarian Party represents those constitutional principles that I agree with."

Matalin said she doesn't yet know enough about Trump, but thinks he could win in a landslide "if he would stop his high school boy antics with women; otherwise he’s going to force suburban women to Hillary."

Matalin is married to Democratic strategist James Carville and has worked both for President George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush. Her husband is a longtime adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton.
