NBC News and Fox News are both projecting West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin will keep his seat, after defeating Republican challenger and state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.
With 49 percent of the vote in, Manchin had 52.1 percent to Morrissey's 43.6 percent. Libertarian Rusty Hollen gained 4.3 percent of the vote, reports NBC.
President Donald Trump had traveled to the Mountain State several times to campaign on Morrissey's behalf, returning to a state he'd won easily in the 2016 race.
Manchin had been the only Democratic senator to vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, notes Fox News.
