The wording in the anti-Trump texts two FBI agents involved in special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election are further proof that "there is a true deep state out there," former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Wednesday.

"There are people who do not support this president who continue to serve in the government, and look, these were career government officials," said Lewandowski, who appeared on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" with David Bossie, a former deputy campaign manager for Trump and Lewandowski's co-writer for the book "Let Trump Be Trump."

"Number one, what no one is talking about, these two were having an illicit affair between the two of them, and number two, this person who sent these text messages is still working for the FBI and they have taken the person and moved him to the human resources department," Lewandowski continued.

"I don't understand it. How does this continue to occur?"

On Tuesday, the Justice Department turned over 375 texts between the agents, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, to Congress, including some referring to Trump as an "idiot." Mueller removed Strzok from the investigation in July after learning about the texts.

Page, with whom Strzok had been romantically involved, already had ended her assignment with Mueller.

Lewandowski also weighed in on Roy Moore's loss to Democratic challenger Doug Jones in Alabama's heavily watched Senate race, saying Jones will likely be a "very short-term senator."

"You will get a good conservative to run against him and take that seat back," said Lewandowski, mentioning Alabama GOP Rep. Mo Brooks as a good possibility. "That is a seat that should have been held by a Republican."

Moore, said Lewandowski, was a "fundamentally flawed" candidate who Trump neither supported nor endorsed in the election.

"What you have to look at is the president has now congratulated the new victor, and unlike some other people in the election, he has accepted the election results," said Lewandowski.

"Hillary [Clinton] is still yet to have accepted [her] election results. The president has done the right thing. But I don't think you are going to see a conservative Joe Manchin [D-W.Va]-type Democrat in that seat in Alabama."

Bossie, the president of Citizens United, noted the race came down to few votes, so he blames many people who came back in to support Moore late.

"We needed to have a Republican in order to be able to help this president with his very aggressive agenda for the American people," said Bossie.

"But this president didn't support this candidate in the primary. You know, he kind of played the hand that was dealt to him. So, we wanted a Republican to get up here to help him in his Senate agenda. Buff, you know, the elections and the people of Alabama have spoken."
