President Donald Trump has been named in over 50 lawsuits since his inauguration, NBC News reported, far more than the past three presidents combined.

According to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, 52 federal cases in 17 states name Trump. Former president Barack Obama was named in three at this point in his first term, while former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were named in four each.

Many of the suits were filed over Trump's executive orders on immigration.

"There are any number of hurdles that any administration would have to jump to build a medieval wall, which probably wouldn't even work," Xavier Becerra, California Attorney General, told NBC's "Meet the Press," while vowing to do whatever is necessary to prevent Trump's executive order on his proposed border wall.

Trump's threat to cut funding to sanctuary cities sparked a lawsuit from San Francisco, which is currently the only city to file in response.

"The president's executive order is not only unconstitutional, it's un-American," said Dennis Herrera, San Francisco City Attorney, from City Hall on Tuesday, according to NBC's local affiliate. "That is why we must stand up and oppose it. We are a nation of immigrants and a land of laws. We must be the 'guardians of our democracy' that President Obama urged us all to be in his farewell address."

One lawsuit, filed only days after Trump's inauguration in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, accuses Trump of violating the "Foreign Emoluments Clause" in the Constitution.

"Since Trump refused to divest from his businesses, he is now getting cash and favors from foreign governments . . . now that he is President, his company's acceptance of any benefits from the governments of those countries violates the Constitution," read a statement from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, who filed the suit.

"When Trump the president sits down to negotiate trade deals with these countries, the American people will have no way of knowing whether he will also be thinking about the profits of Trump the businessman."
