Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, responded Saturday to George Will's decision to quit the Republican Party over Donald Trump by vowing to continue the battle to deny the billionaire the nomination and the White House.
Borrowing a line from the old
Tareyton cigarette ads from the 1950s and '60s, here’s what Kristol said on Twitter:
Kristol, who declared last month that he would not vote for the billionaire, has been a visible stalwart of the "Dump Trump" movement.
He has mentioned both 2012 Republican candidate
Mitt Romney and Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse as possible independent candidates, though the former Massachusetts governor has ruled out a third-party run.
Kristol has also encouraged South Carolina
Sen. Lindsey Graham to resurrect the campaign he suspended in December.
He has relentlessly bashed the presumptive Republican nominee throughout the campaign — and Kristol has even said that he would
rather see Hillary Clinton win than Trump in the fall.
