Without calling it an endorsement, the official newspaper of the Ku Klux Klan ran a full front-page story lauding and supporting Donald Trump in its most recent quarterly issue.

The Crusader headline "Make America Great Again!" was accompanied by a story written by Pastor Thomas Robb.

"Overall, we do like his nationalist views and his words about shutting down the border to illegal aliens," Robb told The Washington Post. "It's not an endorsement because, like anybody, there's things you disagree with. But he kind of reflects what's happening throughout the world."

In the article, Robb wrote of what made America great from its inception.

"While Trump wants to make America great again, we have to ask ourselves, 'What made America great in the first place?'" Robb wrote in the article. "The short answer to that is simple. America was great not because of what our forefathers did — but because of who our forefathers were.

"America was founded as a White Christian Republic. And as a White Christian Republic it became great."

The Trump campaign denounced the support and the publication.

"Mr. Trump and the campaign denounces hate in any form," Trump's campaign said in a statement. "This publication is repulsive and their views do not represent the tens of millions of Americans who are uniting behind our campaign."

Trump has attracted the support of the alt-right, a movement that espouses white nationalist, anti-immigrant and racist viewpoints.

Trump was criticized earlier this year for not disavowing fast enough the support of noted former leader of the KKK, David Duke, who's running for an open Senate seat in Louisiana.
