Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand asserted that President Donald Trump should resign over the myriad allegations of sexual misconduct against him, and that Congress should remove him if he doesn't, the New York Democrat told CBS' "60 Minutes" program.

"I think he should resign, and if he's unwilling to do that, which is what I assume, then Congress should hold him accountable," Gillibrand told "60 Minutes." "We are obligated to have hearings."

That's nothing new coming from the scorched-earth senator, who forced out one of her own, Democratic Sen. Al Franken, over unsubstantiated allegations, and even said Bill Clinton should have resigned, albeit 20-some years after the fact.

Gillibrand defended her position that #MeToo now seems to have evolved.

"I wasn't focused on it in the way I am today. I didn't have that lens," Gillibrand told "60 Minutes." "I think I'm not alone here. Like, how many of us were having this conversation even a year ago?"

Gillibrand, one of several Democrats rumored to be mulling a run in 2020 against Trump, refused to say if she smoothed things over with the Clinton camp regarding her comments, but gave it her best shot on national TV.

"Well, I don't wanna talk about that, but — I can tell you one thing. I can tell you that — Hillary Clinton is still my greatest role model in politics," said Gillibrand, who was appointed to finish out Clinton's Senate term in 2009 when she was appointed secretary or state.

Sexual misconduct isn't the only issue Gillibrand didn't have a "lens" for; the now-progressive has also flipped from being pro-guns and anti-amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Gillibrand once boasted of her A-rating with the NRA before she got the "lens."

"After I got appointed, I went down to Brooklyn to meet with families who had suffered from gun violence in their communities. And you immediately experience the feeling that I couldn't have been more wrong. You know I only had the lens of upstate New York," Gillibrand told "60 Minutes."

And illegal immigrants?

"I came from a district that was 98 percent white. We have immigrants, but not a lot of immigrants. I just didn't take the time to understand why these issues mattered because it wasn't right in front of me. And that was my fault. It was something that I'm embarrassed about and I'm ashamed of," Gillibrand said.
