The thought that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi could get her speaker's gavel back again should "scare all Americans," House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Wednesday.
"If Democrats won the majority, I believe Nancy would be speaker," the California Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" of Pelosi, also from California. "Remember who is winning in the primaries, the socialists, who are much more aligned in San Francisco than the rest of the nation."
He also warned that if Democrats win, another controversial Californian, Rep. Maxine Waters, would likely chair the House Finance Committee and be "in charge of your banking and insurance across the nation."
Pelosi said in an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour Monday that she would have been happy to "go on her own way" had Hillary Clinton beaten Donald Trump for the White House, but she now thinks it's important to keep a woman in a leadership role as a leader who will protect Obamacare.
McCarthy said if Democrats take control of the House again, there will be a push to impeach Trump, abolish ICE and install government health care, the "three pillars of their agenda," but Republicans can campaign on the strength of the economy.
"This election is going to be about results versus resistance, and you don't want more resistance if they take the majority," said McCarthy.
