Likely Republican presidential nominee has added more staff for his general election campaign, including Kellyanne Conway, a veteran strategist who worked for Sen. Ted Cruz's campaign for president,
according to the Washington Post.
"Kellyanne is a tremendous asset to our rapidly-expanding campaign team. She is a data and messaging expert and terrific on TV. It is great to have her on board," Trump said in a statement announcing the hire.
The campaign
recently hired another ex-Cruz staffer, Jason Miller.
Conway has both defended and criticized Trump. After his controversial interview with Fox News' Megyn Kelly,
Conway told Kelly in a Fox News interview, "I think you have to look at the full measure of the man."
In April, while working for Cruz, Conway discussed Trump, saying, "I really hope he takes the advice from the people who are telling him to start appealing to his better angels, to get presidential,"
according to a Breitbart report.
Conway appeared to criticize Trump adviser Paul Manafort in that Breitbart interview.
"You don't get any more establishment than Paul Manafort," he said.
Now Conway will be a senior adviser to Manafort in the Trump campaign, according to the Post story.
Trump also hired Karen Giorno as a senior campaign adviser to develop a "general election strategy" for Florida, the Post report said.
