Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway Tuesday denied that anyone with the White House coronavirus task force has been asked to review a FEMA document that projects a dramatic rise in the numbers of coronavirus deaths in upcoming months, and pointed out that President Donald Trump has said "all along" there would be "death and destruction."

"The White House clearly said that the task force did not generate the document, and no one at the task force, to my knowledge, has been asked to review it," Conway said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends."

Meanwhile "what we have been trying to do here" is to mourn the dead, and grieve with those who lost loved ones, and mitigate the damage from the invisible enemy," said Conway.

The document, leaked to The New York Times, projects that the daily death toll from COVID-19 will reach about 3,000 on June 1, up 70 percent increase from the current number of about 1,750.

Trump is traveling to Arizona on Tuesday to visit Honeywell, which is making N95 masks, and Conway said the president's response has been to work with such companies to develop personal protection equipment and ventilators.

Conway also on Tuesday said "lawyers are probably sorting" out whether members of the task force can testify before Congress after she was asked about the controversy surrounding the refusal to allow Dr. Anthony Fauci to testify before a House committee while allowing him to go before a committee in the Senate.

"I prefer that our health and all of our experts' focus continue to focus on the pandemic, which they have been doing for 2 straight months at the White House, rather than testify, said Conway. "I do hope the people that are asking the questions are asking intelligent rational questions that are relevant to American health because we have seen what they do before."
