Conway: We Have to Talk About Hillary; People Won't Let '16 Go

There is a "lot of disgust" about it not being reported who paid for a dossier that painted President Donald Trump in a bad light, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Thursday, while denying the White House is obsessed with Hillary Clinton and saying people need to let the 2016 election go.

"I know people love to talk about how we're so obsessed with Hillary Clinton here," Conway told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

"The fact is, we only have to talk about her because people won't let go of an election she lost miserably. She's going to be an ungracious loser."

The talk continues about the election, however, because of the dossier, "in light of this ridiculous, concocted Russian collusion delusion," Conway continued.

This week, Trump held bipartisan talks on immigration and signed five or six bills into law Wednesday, she added, and met with the prime minister of Norway.

"Yet people are still stuck in last year's election and about that woman who will never be president," Conway said. "No one at, I said last night, no one at the White House talks about Hillary Clinton. Only when we're forced to, only with the requisite eye rolls [when] talking about 2016."

"It is one day a year ago where President Trump conducted his press conference, one day before the dossier came to light," she also pointed out. "A year later, we're talking about it through a nonsense lens."

The White House has complied with requests for information, she continued, and everyone who has been asked to be interviewed has been, as far as she can tell.

"What are we doing talking about that constantly, especially on other networks, and not talking about every single accomplishment, all the good happening?" Conway said. "Stuff happens here every single day. Do you realize yesterday, Democratic senators and members of Congress coming to the White House on very little notice, standing with the president as he signed into law bipartisan  legislation to stop fentanyl pouring into our communities?"

"We have a Fentanyl problem in this country!" she said. "What is Fentanyl? Look it up everybody! F-E-N-T-A-N-Y-L. Educate yourselves because the other people want to talk about Hillary Clinton and collusion and dossiers, which haven't been verified."

Her comments came the day after a contentious interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, during which she insisted that at the White House, "We don’t care about her, nobody here talks about her."

Meanwhile, a new Quinnipiac poll shows 66 percent of Americans say the economy is good or excellent, and Conway told the program "you can't argue with the numbers, facts, and figures."

"Consumer confidence, manufacturers confidence is booming at an all-time high," she said. "Unemployment is at all-time low including among African-Americans, teenagers, Hispanics. [There is a] downward trend of unemployed women."

The nation is about to become a place where companies are looking for workers now, rather than the other way around, she said.

"That has everything to do with Americans," she said. "It may not have anything to do with people with titillating graphics about Russia and President Trump trying to get in the way every turn. You see his response."

Conway also discussed what needs to happen on illegal immigration to effect change.

"We need to enforce immigration law in the interior of United States, or you will have DACA 10 years," she said. "Families coming across now, that is the next DACA. Under this president we had a 45-year low on illegal immigration across the border. That is not an accident. For once and for all, fix the problem on the border."

The president has made it clear any talks about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program comes with talks to end chain migration and the Visa Lottery system, along with funding for a wall at the border, Conway said.

"This president put forth a 70-point immigration plan," Conway said. "Many Democrats look at immigration through the DACA lenses only."

Meanwhile, in 2013, "54 Democrats in 2013 voted for security measures that look an awful like what the Republicans are asking for now," Conway said. "We can't let these petty partisan politics get in the way of progress."
