Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Wednesday that the White House is concentrating on the spiraling coronavirus epidemic and not politics, but slammed Democrat frontrunner Joe Biden for his suggestion that President Donald Trump call former President Barack Obama for advice.

"I think it's really disappointing to have President Obama, who apparently doesn't talk much to him, out there, criticizing instead of saying hey, here is what we did that we thought was effective," Conway said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "Why doesn't Vice President Biden call the White House today and call the White House today and offer some support?"

At the White House, she added, "we're talking about ventilators and vaccines, not Biden and Bernie (Sanders)...I think the critics and the naysayers seem so much smaller and shrill and petty than they ever have."

Democratic leaders from around the country, though, are thanking Trump and the Coronavirus Task Force for their work, she added.

Meanwhile, it's great for Americans to know that "they are part of the solution" through their efforts to practice social distancing, said Conway.

"If you're staying inside as you've been asked to do by the federal government and certainly by your governors and local leaders, then you are helping to slow the spread," said Conway. "There's really no substitute for that."

Conway also encouraged Americans to take advantage of the $370 million included in the latest coronavirus stimulus package.

"Folks, don't feel like you're getting a handout from the government," she said. "Don't be proud. This is for you. This is because you are in economic dire straits temporarily through no fault of your own. The paycheck protection piece of this is meant to sustain (businesses) so they can keep the payroll, they can keep people working."
