Conway: NYT Anonymous Writer Should Be 'Named, Blamed, and Shamed'

By    |   Monday, 10 September 2018 10:38 AM EDT

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway Monday called on the writer of an anonymous opinion piece for The New York Times to come forward, while saying that person does not have "first hand knowledge" of President Donald Trump and should be "named, blamed, and shamed."

"This is not the president I know as described," Conway told Fox News' "Fox and Friends."

"This is not the decision maker and leader that I'm around every single day."

Conway said she believes the writer will eventually be revealed through his or her own actions, but she's not convinced the writer of the opinion piece is truly a senior level official, as was claimed.

"I'm not really sure this is somebody who gets his or her information about the president except from cable TV or a few memos that are in the system, or a principal coming back from the meeting or relating one or two antidotes," said Conway. "Those of us who have the privilege of serving at the highest levels in this White House or this government, take our responsibility seriously. Those who don't get out today. Because you should be named, blamed, and shamed for not having the courage to come forward."

Meanwhile, Conway pointed out that while Trump does take advice from several different advisers, he and Vice President Mike Pence are the only two elected officials, and Trump "makes the ultimate decision" as a leader.
