Republicans have to "hold the line" in Georgia, where the "American dream is on the ballot" in the Jan. 5 runoff election that could determine control of the Senate next year, one of the candidates, GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler, said Tuesday.
"I'm on week three in our Georgia firewall tour," she told Fox News' "Overtime Outnumbered" host Harris Faulkner. "We are the firewall to stopping socialism in America, right here in Georgia. We know we have to hold the line … [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer said he was going to take Georgia and change America. That's not what we want in Georgia or across the country. We are fighting for that every single day."
Loeffler added that her opponent, Democrat Rev. Raphael Warnock has denounced the police and the military and has "refused to denounce socialism and Marxism. If we don't hold the line here in Georgia, we will see the election of our first Marxist senator in the U.S. Senate. We can't let that happen."
The senator said enthusiasm is incredibly strong among Republicans on the ground in her state, and the "crowds have been tremendous" at rallies being held to drum up enthusiasm, but work needs to continue through the holidays.
She added that Georgia is a red state and it will also keep fighting for President Donald Trump's continued push against the election results from November.
"I see so many great patriots every day in our rallies and events," she said. "We are working hard for Georgians. We have been helping deliver relief under this pandemic, relief that the Democrats have blocked time and again, and [Sen.] David Perdue and I have done that every single day.
"We helped bring $47 billion here to Georgia while my opponent, radical liberal Raphael Warnock, his organization, his voting organization, took a half-million dollars in PPP [Paycheck Protection Program] and is now under investigation for voter fraud and for tax evasion," Loeffler continued. "This is a stark contrast in this race, and what Georgians know is that they need to get out and vote. They are doing that. The president is going to come back. Vice president [Mike] Pence was here. This is an all hands on deck across America."
