Former National Security Adviser John Bolton is now the "most disliked man in America" after discrediting himself with his tell-all book about his time in the White House, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Thursday.

"If you thought [former FBI Director James] Comey was the most disliked man in America, I think John Bolton has taken that title," McEnany said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "My reaction is that John Bolton has discredited himself."

The Department of Justice is increasing its push to block Bolton's book, "The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir," from being released, including considering criminal charges against him before the book hits store shelves on June 23. It has already filed a restraining order against the book.

McEnany on Thursday called Bolton a "misguided hawk on foreign policy," who, despite the claims made in his book, had been "someone who praised President Trump as being strong on foreign policies by not making the mistakes of previous administrations."

"He said President Trump understands [late] President Ronald Reagan's 'peace through strength,'" said McEnany. "He's on the record saying this. John Bolton's book is debunked by none other than John Bolton. He's discredited on both sides of the aisle."

McEnany Thursday also commented on the criminal justice reform bill presented Wednesday by Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., noting that the administration worked very closely with him.

"This is a great bill," she said. "It's one that closely tracks the president's executive order and it's very strong, it's fair, it's even-handed. We hope to see it pass. We hope Democrats will come and join us in this endeavor because all too often they play partisan politics, and the bill the Democrats put out is an absolute non-starter."

The Democrats' bill, she pointed out, rolls back qualified immunity for police departments, which could result in "police officers pulling back, not patrolling the streets. That's an example of something that could be devastating for this country."
