Ohio GOP Gov. John Kasich on Sunday appeared to inch closer to announcing another White House run in 2020, saying the possibility is “a serious consideration every day.”
In an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Kasich was pressed on how intent he was on either a GOP challenge to President Donald Trump’s re-election, or an independent bid.
There are “earnest conversations that go on every day with my friends and family,” he said.
“We've got to get out of this mire and it's going depend on raising the public to say ‘we want better’,” he said. “I don't know where it's all going to lead, George. It's a serious consideration every day.”
Kasich said should Trump and Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren get nominated from their respective parties it leaves “an "ocean of people" in the middle.
“Is there a legitimate opportunity for a third party, bipartisan kind of ticket to be able to score a victory or to have a profound impact on the future of American politics?” he asked, but answering: “We don’t know at this point.”
For now, Kasich said, “We sit. We plan. We raise a little bit of money. We keep my team together.”
