NBC News veteran Tom Brokaw came to the defense of Chuck Todd after President Donald Trump’s stinging personal attack on the the “Meet The Press” host — snidely mocking the insult as “really classy.”

During a Saturday night rally in Pennsylvania to support GOP special election candidate Rick Saccone, Trump revisited his frequent criticism of the media, but added a particularly pointed barb at Todd, calling him a “sleepy son of a bitch.”

Todd shrugged off the insult. But Brokaw, who hosted “NBC Nightly News” for more than two decades, did not.

Other NBC news hosts and correspondents also stood up for Todd, including Andrea Mitchell

Joy Reid Hallie Jackson and  NBC’s Katy Tur shot down the slam as well.

And conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt also condemned Trump’s criticism, taking a dig of his own at the president as slamming “only those he is afraid of.”
