White House Chief of Staff John Kelly doled out some advice to the press corps Thursday during a rare appearance in front of the camera after saying he's tired of reading fake news every morning.

"One of my frustrations is you. All of you. Not all of you, but many of you," Kelly said in a straightforward manner. "As I said when I first started talking, I'm a reasonable guy. But when I read in the morning … I won't tell you what I read. I watch TV in the morning. It is astounding to me how much is misreported.

"I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are operating off of contacts, leaks, whatever you call them. But I would just offer to you the advice I'd say — maybe develop some better sources."

Kelly seemed relaxed in front of the camera and joked with the press throughout the briefing. In between answering questions, he smiled as the throng of reporters shouted questions his way.

President Donald Trump repeatedly blasts what he says are fake news reports, including some this week that claimed he wanted to increase the nation's nuclear arsenal tenfold.

Kelly also tried to set the record straight about his future in the West Wing — which he said is secure.
