Ohio Gov. John Kasich this weekend praised young people for holding politicians accountable for the lack of action on gun violence.

"Young people — the Millennials, the Gen Xers — are saying, 'Look, we've heard enough. Deliver something. Deliver something. We don't want all these excuses. Deliver something,'" the governor said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday.

"Frankly, they put it to me every once in a while, and I try to explain to them the politics of why it's so difficult," he continued. "They don't want to hear it. And you know? Good for them! Bully for them! I love them! I love the way that they are saying, 'Let's do the art of the impossible rather than the art of the possible.'"

Last week, Kasich announced that a bipartisan panel had agreed to six recommendations on gun policy, including stricter background checks, a ban on purchases for a third party, and allowing family members and friends to petition a court to remove guns from a person's home if they pose a threat to themselves or others.

"No one is interested in some slippery slope and trying to grab everybody's guns," Kasich told reporters after the announcement, according to Cleveland.com.

He added that "the more they push, the better chance we have of getting something done — to have greater gun safety and better protection for everybody in our country."
