Ohio Gov. John Kasich beats President Donald Trump 52-40 percent in a hypothetical New Hampshire Republican presidential primary matchup, a new poll by the American research Group reveals.
And if the contest was held between Vice President Mike Pence and Kasich, the Ohio governor would still come out ahead 41-27 percent, according to the survey. Thirty-two percent say they were undecided.
The Hill noted Trump had won the GOP primary in New Hampshire, but lost to Hillary Clinton in the state's general election.
The survey follows a Washington Post report that Trump, in a phone call with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had called New Hampshire a "drug-infested den."
The poll, conducted Aug. 4-6, surveyed 600 likely Republican presidential primary voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
