Former Vice President Joe Biden took a shot at President Donald Trump's reaction the events of Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday night, claiming the president prescribed "moral equivalency" in condemning "both sides" and lacked "clarity, consistency, or vision" with the response.

"This is a moment for this nation to declare what this president can't with any clarity, consistency, or vision: There is no place in America for hate groups," Biden told the NAACP in Charleston, South Carolina, as Politico reported.

Biden added President Trump "has publicly proclaimed the moral equivalency of neo-Nazis, klansmen, and those who oppose their hate," per the report.

Biden, a frequent President Trump critic, was returning to South Carolina, which he had considered a significant political locale in a presidential campaign. And he seized on opposing Trump on race at a NAACP fundraising dinner.

"We saw the truth of this president when he pardoned Joe Arpaio of Arizona," Biden told the NAACAP, per Politico. "It's moments like these that each of us has to stand up and declare with conviction and moral clarity that the Klan, white supremacists, neo-Nazis will never be allowed to march in the main street of American life. That we will not watch this behavior and go numb when it happens.

"We will not allow what's happening along this landscape of America to be normalized, because we all know it represents the minority."
