SOTU Guest Jody Jones Blasts Pelosi's 'Disrespectful Actions'

State of the Union Guest Jody Jones, whose brother was killed in 2018 by a man who had been repeatedly deported from the U.S., said Wednesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., hurt his family by tearing up her copy of the speech.

"It felt like she ripped our hearts out — everybody there, all the guests, we couldn't believe it," Jones told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "Look, I don't care how you feel about somebody. That was probably the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen in my life, because when she did that, it tore us up. We couldn't believe it."

In a message to Pelosi, Jones said, "First of all, let's do away with the [California Sanctuary Law SB 54]. I don't care how you feel about somebody — think of other people and the others involved, please, because what you did was very disrespectful and it really ripped our hearts out."

Pelosi said in a statement after the speech: "The manifesto of mistruths presented in page after page of the address [Tuesday] night should be a call to action for everyone who expects truth from the president and policies worthy of his office and the American people. The American people expect and deserve a president to have integrity and respect for the aspirations for their children."
