President Donald Trump will win "big" in Ohio because its voters know that he is the best friend of manufacturing in the state and the country, Rep. Jim Jordan said after the president's visit to his state Thursday.
"This poll today that says the president is even with Joe Biden in Ohio, I would bet my house that that's not accurate," the Ohio Republican told Fox News' Martha MacCallum. "The president is going to win the state just like he won it in 2016. ... If you'd been in Ohio today, you would see what I saw. This state is going to go big for President Trump."
Trump was in Ohio Thursday to give a speech at the Whirlpool plant in Clyde, where he touted his "America First" trade agenda and said he signed a proclamation to reimpose 10% tariffs on some Canadian aluminum products to protect U.S. industry from a surge in imports.
Jordan said there were Trump supporters lined up from the airport in nearby Cleveland to the Whirlpool plant, and it was "great to see."
The president visited the plant and was well received because of his willingness to stand up to China and to support American families and workers, said Jordan.
"This president has stood strong and the folks at the Whirlpool plant, they understand and right now they are humming along," said Jordan. "They are selling washers and dryers like you can't believe because this president is fighting for hard-working families all across this country."
Jordan also disagreed with contentions in an article saying that Republicans would lose the White House, the Senate, and the House if the election were to be held now.
"The swamp has been wrong so many times," said Jordan. "This president is going to win, he's going have coattails just like he did in '16 ... this president understands how you connect with the American people. What the American people most appreciate is the willingness for him to take on the swamp."
