House Freedom Caucus member Rep. Jim Bridenstine – who threatened to withdraw his support for Speaker Paul Ryan after he refused to campaign or defend Donald Trump – is now being considered for a job in the president-elect's administration, the Washington Post reports.

The Oklahoma Republican, a former Navy pilot who is a staunch advocate of space exploration, has had informal talks about serving as NASA administrator or secretary of the Air Force, the Post reported, citing an unnamed source.

"He’s made it clear to the campaign that if asked to serve as NASA Administrator or Air Force secretary, he would be willing," the source told the Post.

Last month, Bridenstine blasted Ryan after he refused to go out on the campaign trail with the then-nominee.

According to the Post, others being considered for the NASA job include Mike Griffin, who served as NASA administrator under President George W. Bush, and Eileen Collins, the first female commander of a space shuttle mission who spoke at the Republican National Convention.
