Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., said Michael Flynn's guilty plea on Friday opens the door for the House Judiciary Committee to investigate President Donald Trump for obstruction of justice, The Hill reports.

"There is now more than enough evidence to form the basis of a congressional investigation into the president's obstruction of justice — and it is long past time that the House Committee on the Judiciary engage on this matter," Nadler said. "I urge Chairman [Bob] Goodlatte to finally begin our oversight work without delay,"

"This development adds further weight to our suspicion of President Trump's corrupt motives when he approached former FBI Director (James) Comey about the Flynn investigation and asked that he 'let it go.'"

Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations with Russia's ambassador. Flynn is reported to be cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller's office, according to CNN.
