Robert Mueller's Wednesday morning statement essentially handed Democrats the green light to reopen an obstruction of justice case against President Donald Trump, author Jerome Corsi told Newsmax TV.

"What Mueller was trying to do [Wednesday] was reopen the obstruction case and give it to Congress," Corsi said a short time after Mueller spoke. "I see a lot of influence from [Andrew] Weissmann and the other strongly partisan Democratic prosecutors that were on the team."

Corsi got wrapped up in Mueller's Russia probe over allegations he was a link between the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, which released stolen documents and emails that impacted Democrat Hillary Clinton's campaign. Corsi said no such relationship existed.

"I can tell you personally, from having been interviewed for 40 hours by the entire Mueller team, that they were anti-Trump and they were strong Hillary Clinton supporters," Corsi said. "They have no case. Mueller has no case. Botton line, he has no case.

"There was no involvement with the Trump campaign. That's clear. If there had been, Mueller would have found it. If Mueller had hard evidence of obstruction, the report would have been written differently. It would have been written to suggest that there was obstruction – not that they couldn't find any, or that they were uncertain."
