President Donald Trump sent out more tweets on Sunday trying to discredit the impeachment proceedings against him.
He specifically targeted career foreign service officer Jennifer Williams, a staffer to Vice President Mike Pence, for her testimony behind closed doors that the president's call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in July was “inappropriate.”
“Tell Jennifer Williams, whoever that is, to read BOTH transcripts of the presidential calls, & see the just released statement from Ukraine,” Trump wrote in a tweet. “Then she should meet with the other Never Trumpers, who I don’t know & mostly never even heard of, & work out a better presidential attack!”
House Democrats released on Saturday a transcript of her testimony, according to The Hill. Williams is also expected to testify publicly this coming week in the impeachment inquiry into Trump.
The president also sent out another tweet bashing the entire proceedings, stating that “The Crazed, Do Nothing Democrats are turning Impeachment into a routine partisan weapon. That is very bad for our Country, and not what the Founders had in mind!!!!”
Trump defended the accusations against him in a third message on Twitter, stressing that “Republicans & others must remember, the Ukrainian President and Foreign Minister both said that there was no pressure placed on them whatsoever. “Also, they didn’t even know the money wasn’t paid, and got the money with no conditions.”
