GOP Rep. Jenkins Seeks to Kill Lame-Duck

Friday, 31 December 2010 03:14 PM EST

Like many other Republicans, Rep. Lynn Jenkins of Kansas wasn’t too impressed with the work of Congress during its lame-duck period this month. And she’s trying to do something about it. Jenkins proposed a bill earlier this year to forbid lame-duck sessions except in the case of a national emergency, and she says the bill could gain momentum next year, The Hill reports.

jenkins, lame, duck, kill“I am just concerned with the amount of activity that we see happening in these lame-duck sessions, when the folks [who were not re-elected] are no longer accountable to the people that they represent,” she tells Fox News.

“Usually, when you get fired, you are escorted to the door. You’re not allowed to linger for months and wreak havoc with the nation, and which is precisely what I think the potential is.”
