Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, one of the three GOP state attorneys general suing the Biden administration over its decision to drop the use of the Title 42 restrictions at the nation's border, said Monday that he and the others took action because the Biden administration doesn't care whether people are entering the country illegally.
"They tend to weigh in on the side of illegality," Landry said on Newsmax's "National Report."
"They favor giving more rights to noncitizens than they do our own citizens [and] they want to respect the rights of noncitizens, those trying to enter into this country illegally."
Further, he said, many Americans are still subject to COVID-19 policies for masking and vaccinations, including requirements for people traveling on planes or for those who serve in the military.
But the government is waiving such policies with immigrants, and saying to them to "come on in. Let's create as much chaos as we can at the border," said Landry.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration has not responded to the lawsuit, as it "just wants to overwhelm the border with another half a million illegal immigrants," said Landry.
The attorney general added that the administration's lax policies at the border are encouraging criminals to take advantage of the situation.
"The cartel understands that a porous border is good for their business," he said. "You have human trafficking going on. You have fentanyl coming across the border. I mean, it's like an invasion of our country by an enemy.
"These are people who, again, many of them are coming in to apply a criminal trade because the border is so porous, they know that if they flood the border, if they overwhelm the border, it's much easier for that criminal element to make its way into America and do harm to our citizens."
And much of the violent crime that is happening in every state "has to do with the fact that we can't control the border," said Landry.
Further, the Border Patrol does not have the resources to control the border like it did when former President Donald Trump was in office, he said, and as a result, "we have no idea who is coming in, what they're coming in for and what they're carrying both as far as infectious diseases, and of course how many drugs they are trafficking."
Children are also "pouring across the border," but it's not known if their parents are with them or if it's someone else, said Landry.
