Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who announced he was not running for re-election while sharply criticizing President Donald Trump, has just a 30 percent approval rating in his home state, while 53 percent of voters disapprove of his job performance, the Washington Examiner reported.

The website said the figures come from the Morning Consult polls, which had emailed reporters the information following Flake's comments on Tuesday.

According to the Examiner, the figures break down like this:

  • 37 percent of Republicans approve of Flake's job performance, while 50 percent disapprove
  • 28 percent of Democrats approve of the job Flake is doing, while 60 percent disapprove.

In a Wednesday tweet, Trump cited Flake's approval rating at an even lower 18 percent:

Those figures appear to come from a survey released in August by Public Policy Polling, according to the Washington Post.
