VP Stakes: Jeb Bush Would Serve

Monday, 11 June 2012 10:13 AM EDT

If asked, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush would accept an invitation to be Mitt Romney’s vice presidential nominee, his son George P. Bush told The Washington Post blog She the People.

“If called upon to serve, he will,” Bush said in an interview in Little Rock, Ark., at the Republican Party’s state headquarters. He noted, however, that his father is not seeking the number two spot on the Republican ticket.

“He loves to fight for conservative causes, and there are other ways to help, whether it is as vice president or not,” Bush told the Post.

The 36-year-old Bush also talked up the vice presidential prospects of Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.

“He can speak to the immigrant story and to the American dream not only as a Cuban but also he translates well to other Hispanic communities,” he told the Post. “He’s incredibly intelligent. He has a national career in the foreseeable future.”
