Jeb Bush appeared to take a swipe at President Donald Trump during a Yale University lecture Tuesday.
Bush, the former Republican presidential candidate and former Florida governor, said he came home following the 2016 Republican primary in South Carolina to children who "actually love me," The Yale Daily News reported.
The audience laughed at the comment, and several audience members interviewed afterward said they interpreted the comment as a jab at Trump, the newspaper reported.
At another point during the lecture titled, "A Conversation With Jeb Bush: Restoring Conservatism in America," Bush said the current president is "Republican in basically name only."
Bush has three children, George P. Bush, Noelle Bush, and John Ellis Bush, Jr. Trump's sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump responded to Bush in tweets.
Trump's sons, Eric and Don Jr. took to Twitter to respond:
