A leader at the Jewish National Fund (JNF) has penned an emotional letter to Jared Kushner, asking Donald Trump's Orthodox Jewish son-in-law to use his influence to stop former Breitbart CEO Steve Bannon from becoming the president-elect's top adviser.

"Elevating someone as unfit as Steve Bannon to serve as a primary advisor is not just the wrong message to send to this great country — even if less than half of it is interesting in listening — it is the wrong thing to do," Elie Jacobs, co-founder of JNFuture, the young leadership of the JNF, tells Kushner.

"I beg of you to be on the right side of history … This can start with the step of ensuring Steve Bannon does not have a position in the White House."

In his letter, also published in The Times of Israel, Jacobs, a New York City public relations consultant, asks Kushner to speak with Trump about returning Bannon "back to the shadows of Breitbart and the alt-right," because "a man open about his fetid prejudices has no place in the West Wing."

Earlier this week, the Anti-Defamation League "condemned" the appointment of Bannon as Trump's senior advisor and chief strategist, stating:

"It is a sad day when a man who presided over the premier website of the 'alt-right' — a loose-knit group of white nationalists and unabashed anti-Semites and racists — is slated to be a senior staff member in the 'people's house.' "

The JNF is a non-profit organization founded in 1901 to give "all generations of Jews a unique voice in building a prosperous future for the land of Israel and its people."
