Report: Dem Rep. Raskin Fights Impeachment Inquiry

By    |   Monday, 11 December 2023 04:58 PM EST

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., privately has been lobbying some of his GOP colleagues in the House in an effort to convince them to vote against the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, Fox News reported Monday.

A vote is expected on the House floor Wednesday to formalize the inquiry, an effort Republicans see as a way to fortify the investigation. Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., declared the launch of the impeachment inquiry on Sept. 27.

Raskin has been trying to appeal to Republicans based on the evidence and rebutting GOP arguments into affirming the inquiry, according to the report.

Further, House Oversight Democrats plan to share fact sheets with committee Republicans regarding the case against Biden, saying outright that Oversight Chair James Comer, R-Ky., might not be providing them with "all of the facts," according to Fox News.

"Despite Democrats' best efforts, the House Oversight Committee has produced evidence revealing Joe Biden knew about, participated in, and benefited from his family cashing in on the Biden last name," Comer told Fox News. "We will continue to follow the facts and hold this president accountable for his corruption."

The resolution on the impeachment inquiry was being taken up by the House Rules Committee on Tuesday.
