Continuing his campaign to sow discord against President Donald Trump, fired FBI Director James Comey called on Republicans to "speak up" against the president "for the FBI, the rule of law, and the truth."

Comey's latest salvo against his presidential nemesis came via Twitter and began with the opinion President Trump is "lying" about the FBI raid.

"Remember, Michael Cohen only became a 'Rat' after the FBI did something which was absolutely unthinkable & unheard of until the Witch Hunt was illegally started," Trump tweeted earlier Sunday. "They BROKE INTO AN ATTORNEY'S OFFICE! Why didn't they break into the DNC to get the Server, or Crooked's office?"

Comey's reference to a lie by the president was apparently based on Trump's view the FBI broke into Michael Cohen's office during the raid, which was a "lawful execution a search warrant," in Comey's view.

"This is from the President of our country, lying about the lawful execution of a search warrant issued by a federal judge," Comey tweeted. "Shame on Republicans who don't speak up at this moment — for the FBI, the rule of law, and the truth."

Since his firing as FBI director and arguing his agenda is not political, Comey has taken to campaigning for Democrats against Republicans in the midterm elections.
