Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., released his third edition of "Federal Fumbles," a report highlighting wasteful and inefficient government spending.

Lankford cited in the Monday report as one of the top examples of waste in government funds a $30,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant that supports the production of the play "Doggie Hamlet."

"The adaptation does not include any actual lines from Hamlet, is conducted outdoors in a 30-by-50-foot field in New Hampshire, and is mostly humans yelling or running toward confused sheep and dogs," the report stated.

The NEA grant, which funded a series of dance performances of "conceptual art," including "Doggie Hamlet," was first revealed by The Washington Free Beacon.

"I have no problem with them performing Doggy Hamlet in New Hampshire," Lankford told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "But I don't understand why the people of Connecticut are forced with their federal tax dollars to pay for the production that's in New Hampshire. I certainly don't want the people of Oklahoma to be able to pay for that."

The report states the United States currently holds $20.49 trillion in debt, and ran a $666 billion deficit in 2017,

Also included in Lankford's report was the identification of $473.6 billion in wasteful spending, including over $1 billion spent for just 10 miles of trolley line in San Diego, and $1.5 billion on public relations for government agencies each year.
