Inaugural Singer to Trump: Meet Me and My Transgender Sister

Inaugural Singer to Trump: Meet Me and My Transgender Sister

By    |   Wednesday, 22 February 2017 09:39 PM

Teenage opera star Jackie Evancho, who performed the National Anthem at President Donald Trump‘s inauguration, says his rollback of rules protecting transgender students hit a sour note with her family.

In a pair of tweets, Evancho said she was disappointed at the decision announced Wednesday – and wants Trump to meet with both her, and her transgender sister.

Evancho's sister, Juliet Evancho, who was born Jacob and is transgender, told CBS last month Jackie's decision to perform – despite the criticism she faced for the decision – was an "honor."
