The White House on Monday knocked down a report senior adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump is a potential candidate for World Bank president — saying she would help in the selection process.
According to White House Deputy Director of Communications Jessica Ditto, Trump was named by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney to "help manage the U.S. nomination process as she's worked closely with the World Bank's leadership for the past two years," the Washington Examiner reported.
"Reports that she is under consideration are false," Ditto said.
The reports had triggered a backlash from Democrats, including billionaire donor Tom Steyer, who described the possibility as "ridiculous."
The World Bank's current president, Jim Yong Kim, announced last week he was leaving in February.
