President Donald Trump's daughter, who will soon take an official position as a White House adviser, praised his response to Syria's use of chemical weapons earlier this week.
"Tonight, I ordered a targeted military strike on the air base in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched," Trump said from Mar-a-Lago Thursday, according to The New York Times. "It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons."
The United Nations Security Coucil called for emergency talks following the strike, which UK Ambassador Matthew Rycroft called a "proportionate response to unspeakable acts," according to BBC News.
Despite the support from some, Russian President Vladimir Putin has voiced his displeasure with the strike, calling it a "significant blow" against his country's relationship with the United States, the Times reports.
