It is too early to say when Donald Trump will make good on his campaign promise to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a spokesman for the president-elect said.

Trump aide Jason Miller told reporters Trump "remains firmly committed" to the move, according to a report in The Jerusalem Post.

The president-elect has a little over a month before his inauguration, and he just named attorney David Friedman as his pick to become ambassador to Israel.

"Further details might be a little premature…we don't have that yet," Miller said.

And The Hill reports that Friedman, who was picked by Trump on Thursday, also favors moving the embassy to Jerusalem.

Israel declared Jerusalem as its capital in 1950, but the U.S. has not recognized it and kept its diplomatic presence in Tel Aviv, The Hill says, noting the Palestinians also claim Jerusalem as their capital city.
