Almost three quarters of Republicans say President Joe Biden’s inaugural speech was good — though far fewer believed his promises to be frank and open, an online poll showed.

The Ipsos survey found 83% of all respondents thought the speech was good.

Here’s a breakdown:

  • 72% of GOP voters said the speech was good; 97% of Democrats and 78% of independents had a similar view.
  • 46% of Republicans said they believed Biden when he said he wanted to be a “president for all Americans”; 67% of respondents overall believed the statement.
  • 39% of Republicans said they believed Biden’s statement that he’d “always level” with Americans; 59% of voters overall believed it.
  • 73% of all voters believe democracy has prevailed in the wake of the Jan. 6 siege of the Capitol by people who wanted to overturn the results of the presidential election.
  • 85% of all voters agree with Biden saying “without unity there is no peace, only bitterness and fury.”

The online survey has an overall margin of error of plus or minus five percentage points.
