INDIANAPOLIS — Republicans who control the Indiana House plan to try to resume business, although Democrats have been boycotting.
Republicans say they'll be in the House chamber Wednesday morning, a day after 37 of 40 Democratic members fled to Illinois. That left the chamber short of the two-thirds needed for a quorum. It also meant that so-called right-to-work legislation opposed by Democrats and unions was at least temporarily blocked from further consideration.
The Democratic caucus says in a statement that members are in Urbana, Ill., "for the immediate future" reviewing Republican proposals on public education changes and labor legislation.
Democrats say they're giving people time to learn about the Republican agenda and speak against it.
Republican leaders say the Democrats are blocking measures that could help Indiana's economy.
