A new poll shows that nearly three-quarters of Indian Americans support Democrat Joe Biden over President Donald Trump.

Results from the YouGov poll:

  • 72% of Indian Americans said they would vote for the Biden-Kamala Harris ticket for president.
  • 22% said they would vote for the Trump-Mike Pence ticket.
  • 45% said Harris' selection as Biden's running mate made them more likely to vote, while 49% said they became more enthusiastic about voting for Biden when Harris joined the ticket. Harris' mother is Indian and her father is Jamaican.
  • Indian Americans are the second largest group of immigrants, Reuters noted, and make up less than 1% of the U.S. electorate.

The survey was a collaboration between the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Johns Hopkins-SAIS, and the University of Pennsylvania. It was conducted from Sept. 1-20 among 936 Indian Americans. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
