Donald Trump warned four years ago the GOP had to "take the lead" on immigration reform or "they're never going to win another election."

The real estate mogul also declared the president should make immigration a "top priority" along with jobs, Trump told "Fox and Friends" after President Barack Obama's re-election in 2012.

A video was posted by CNN's Andrew Kaczynski.

"It is a top priority, and the Republicans ought to take the lead," Trump said in the interview. "I mean they have to get smart. They cannot have what happened to them with immigration and other issues sabotage their elections."

The 2012 GOP nominee, Mitt Romney, got 27 percent of the Latino vote; Trump is expected to get less than 20 percent Tuesday, The Hill reported.

Early voting has shown Latinos are participating at record levels, according to CNN.
