Now that Democratic freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar has offered an “unequivocal apology” for a statement widely criticized as anti-Semitic, attention is turning to whether her controversial remarks — and what many saw as the slow response by Democrat leaders to disavow them — will have a lasting impact on Jewish voters’ support for Democrats in 2020.

In a partisan political universe where President Donald Trump has fully embraced Israel and recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s legitimate capital, support for the Jewish state no longer seems to be as rock solid among Democrats as it was a generation ago.
