The disclosure that government outsiders granted meetings with Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state often made donations to the Clinton Foundation shows that as president she might turn access to the White House into a huge money-making operation, Mike Huckabee says.

"If she does become President, maybe she could actually pay down the national debt," the former Arkansas governor and GOP presidential candidate says on his Facebook page.

"If she could turn the State Department's back door into a bigger revenue generator than the ticket booth at Disney World, imagine how much access seekers would pay to get inside the White House."

Huckabee pointed to an Associated Press review of State Department records that found out of 154 people outside of government who were granted meetings with Clinton, 85 donated money to the Clinton Foundation or pledged money to its international programs.

"That's more than half of all the private individuals or companies who were seeking access or some sort of favors from the government," Hucakbee said.

"At least 40 of the people Hillary met with donated over $100,000 each. Twenty forked over more than a million bucks each. Combined, all 85 donated — brace yourself — $156 million!"

Huckabee said what he finds almost as disturbing are alleged attempts by the Clinton campaign and its supporters to "downplay or excuse its findings."

"For instance: The data is cherry-picked because it represents only the first half of her tenure. Okay, give us the records of all the people she met with during the second half and how many of them were donors (crickets chirping)," he said.

"Or, this may look shady and suspicious, but it doesn't actually violate the law (wow, there's a high ethical standard for a Secretary of State to live up to!)

"And my personal favorite: this is misleading because it doesn't include all the representatives of foreign governments she met with, which was part of her official diplomatic duties."

Huckabee said that argument would be "more persuasive if at least 16 of the foreign government representatives she met with hadn't also donated as much as $170 million to the Clinton Foundation."
